MEET JASON

Jason M. Jones is married to Nekeysha Jones, an educator who is Principal at Sparkman 9th Grade School. They are both from Mobile, AL, have known each other since they were in middle school, and together, they have two daughters: Breanna, a student at Tuskegee University, and Melanie, a high school junior in the Madison County School System. Jason is a faithful member of Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church serving as a Deacon, Chair of the Trustee Board, and Sunday School Teacher. Jason started his professional career working for the Federal Trio Programs Upward Bound preparing low income first-generation high school students academically and socially for successful college matriculation. In 2005, Jason accepted a position with the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Weapons Division in China Lake, California. This would be the beginning of a federal civil servant career with the Department of Defense that spanned four states and ten organizations. Jason culminated his 16-year federal career as the Cost Analysis Branch Chief of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Product Office within PEO Aviation at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.

While working within the Department of Defense, Jason decided he needed to quench the thirst he had for the law and enrolled in a weekend law program at the Birmingham School of Law. From August 2014 to August 2017, Jason worked full-time with the Department of Defense Monday through Friday and spent his weekends in Birmingham on Saturday in Law School. He graduated and successfully passed the Alabama State Bar Exam. In 2018, Attorney Jones opened the JMJ Law Firm, LLC, a law firm focusing in the areas of criminal law, family law, dependency & juvenile law, and non-profit development. On December 31, 2021, after 16 years of federal service, Attorney Jones took an early retirement from the Department of Defense to devote his full attention to the practice of law. Attorney Jones is a licensed attorney and member in good standing with the Alabama State Bar and has served as a Deputy Attorney General for the Madison County Department of Human Resources since 2023. Attorney Jones has served on the faculty at the Birmingham School of Law since 2020. He serves on the Alabama State Bar Appointed Counsel & Indigent Committee and the Bench and Bar Relations Task Force. He also holds memberships in the American Bar Association, the National Bar Association, the Alabama Lawyers Association, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Attorney Jones is active in his community as well and is a member of several civic, and social organizations to include The Rotary Club of Greater Huntsville, Eagle Lodge #97 F&AM, Tennessee Valley Consistory #160, The Huntsville Committee of 100, The Sons of the American Legion, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Within Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Inc., Jason serves as the Southern Province Polemarch. In this position, he is the Chief Executive Officer of the chapters of Kappa Alpha Psi in Alabama, Florida, The Dominican Republic, The Bahamas, The U.S. Virgin Islands, and The Republic of Panama. Attorney Jones enjoys volunteering at organizations that focus on helping individuals overcome economic and educational disparities. He serves on various boards to include the Board of Directors for the Madison County Volunteer Lawyer Program, Crisis Services of North Alabama, the Huntsville Alumni Chapter Kappa Scholarship Foundation, and the Southern Province of Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation. He is also the Vice Director of the American Legion’s Alabama Boys State Program. Attorney Jason M. Jones received his Bachelor of Science degree from Alabama A&M University where his studies focused on Mathematics, Physics, and Political Science. He also earned a Master of Science in Business Administration from Texas A&M University-Texarkana, and a Juris Doctorate from The Birmingham School of Law.
